After five years of being in Berlin, I eventually had my first trip to the Berlinale. As well as that, I went to Zoo Palast for the first time ever … extra points I think! I went to see the shorts which were really great. Well, all except for the documentary about dissecting r.a.t's at the Charite Hospital, where many of the audience found the need to get up and leave! The renovation of the theatre is also amazing, it is really beautiful and I will definitely be going back. 3 points?
Although I have done Tai Chi before (albeit once) I still get points for this one! This is the first ever course I have done at the Volkshochschule. It's a long course as it runs until May and so far I have learnt four moves. One of the best things about the course is trying to understand the chinese instructor's German; a wonderful, elderly man who is very enthusiastic about his Tai Chi skills. I also really like the building where it's run. It is a school hall on Schönhauser Allee, which has a beautiful balcony and wonderful lights!
Well, despite having holidays and lots of opportunities to do things for the first time (like seeing my first full opera) nothing counted as it wasn’t in Berlin. However, as I’m falling behind in the competition, I decided to go and see an exhibition upon my return. The Tränenpalast (Palace of Tears) is a place I’ve been meaning to go for years but have never been. It was incredibly interesting and I ended up staying much longer than I had intended. The exhibit shows what it was like for people using the boarder at Friedrichstrasse. Definitely worth a visit as I learned a great deal! 1 point?
